Donegal’s First Handcycling Event

On Sunday June 21st incorporated as part of the Tour of Inishowen, North Pole Cycling Club in conjunction with Donegal Sports Partnership organised Donegal’s first Handcycling event. Handcycling is for athletes who normally require a wheelchair for general mobility or who are not able to use a conventional bicycle due to lower limb disability. Donegal Sports Ability Day

On Saturday 4th October Donegal Sports Partnership hosted a Sports Ability Day in Aura Leisure Centre Letterkenny. The event was organised by Thérèse Laverty, Sports Inclusion Disability Officer (SIDO) with Donegal Sports Partnership.  The aim of the event was to encourage people with disabilities to come along and participate in sports that they may not have previously tried. Donegal Sports Ability Forum

Donegal Sports Partnership is facilitating a newly established Sports Ability Forum. This forum aims to examine the provision of sport and physical activity for people with disabilities in County Donegal. In addition to this it is a forum for the exchange of information on issues relating to disability sport. A number of Key Organisations participate in the forum including National Governing Bodies of Sport (NGBs), Disability Organisations, People with Disabilities, Representatives from Education, Sports Clubs and Local Leisure Providers.
